What foods are good for a 5 month old?

I started my son out on solids at 4 months, with the go-ahead from his dr. I don't want any reponses about starting too early.

He's already had rice cereal, carrots, butternut squash, gala apples, and brocolli. The brocolli gave him gas so we're waiting & trying again later. I know he could also have bananas, avacado, pears, peaches or sweet potato, but I can't find a good price on those (I make my own baby food).

  • You might want to find a good baby food cookbook. The Super Baby Food book is good too.

  • I THINK ANYTHING HEALTHY WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE BABY.START LIKE SOFT FOODS OR FINGER FOODS CAUSE THEY LIKE THAT AT THAT AGE.JUST DO NOT GIVE BIG PORTIONS BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT THE BABY TO CHOKE.JUST START SLOW AND EASY TO MAKE SURE THE BABY IS NOT ALLERGIC.

  • I made stew with veggies like potatoes and carrots. After they get soft, I just mash them up for her. Also made her plain rice porriage, After she got teeth. She loves fresh baked bread. I give her the inside of the bread because it is nice and fluffy.

  • My dr. said that berries and melons are more allergenic and we should wait until at least 9 months for those. But I hadn't thought of beans!
