why is my baby losing his hair and peeling where he is losing the hair?

it looks as if his skin is peeling (not flaky) around the beginning of his hair line and dry and he is losing his hair there.

  • cradle cap. it is not painful and his hair will grow back, maybe even a different color. you can use a soft baby brush and some baby oil and try to work some of the dry stuff off, or you can just ignore it. it will go away.

  • make sure he doesn't have a fungal infection (ring worm) as this often causes flakiness and hair loss of the infected area and it WILL SPREAD. If you are not sure, take him to pediatrician to have them take a look (and possibly a culture) of the area.

  • Hair loss is quite normal in babies, and my guess would be cradle cap, but ask your doc!
