How accurate are due dates?

this is my first pregnancy and i'm due may 11th
do you think she'll come before or after?
i know it's a silly question because no one knows for sure, but when were your due dates and when did baby actually come?

  • They are just an estimate and can be off, give or take by 2 weeks or more.

  • Statistically, only 5% of babies come on their actual due date. It's really just an estimate. DS was "due" August 28, came on the 24. We thought he was due Aug 18, based on when I ovulated (we had been charting), and when he was born, the nurses all said he looked overdue. So don't hold onto that date as the end-all be-all. Again, just an estimate. That said, I was born on my due date. i joke it's the only time in my life I've ever been on time for anything. =)

  • Due dates are really just a guesstimate. And they can be off buy as much as 2 weeks. But baby will come when she is ready. Don't worry, your body knows when!

  • With my first my due date was march 19th and he was born on march 19th. With my second my due date was march 17th and he was born on march 3rd. With my 3rd her due date was november 29th and she was born on the 16th. She was early because my second child came so fast I almost didn't make it to the hospital. The doctors didn't want that to happen with my 3rd so they induced me.

    Good Luck!

  • Due dates are just estimates. They can be off by two weeks before or two weeks after. With my first pregnancy, I was due April 4, 2006, had them (twins) February 14, 2006. Second pregnancy-due September 17, 2007, had her September 24, 2007. Third pregnancy-due December 25, 2010, had him December 28, 2010.

  • Not especially accurate. You should typically give yourself 2 weeks on either side of a proposed due date if you have no idea when you conceived.
