What are pine nuts?

  • They come from the center of the pine cone. They are edible seeds. Great in pasta dishes, or ground up in pesto.

  • Look in the baking section. They're usually with the walnuts and slivered almonds. I get mine at super Walmart.

  • They are usually by all the other nuts, yes. Both bagged & jarred. I've seen them in the refrigerated section too though at one store.

  • Don't feel stupid! I never knew what they were until dh told me about them. I also had the misconception that they taste like pine, which they don't. They have a nice, buttery flavor to them.

  • just a quick piece of advice....if the recipe calls for you to toast them, don't take your eye off of them for a second lol. they will burn in a heartbeat and then be ruined! don't ask me how i know..................lmao
