  • Bumping is supposed to draw attention to good questions and let the pointless ones sift down to the bottom. If you could bump your own, that would defeat the purpose of it. (Course, that also requires you to use the most and recently bumped lists instead of just reading categories for it to do any good).

    That's reality - that's not why they set it up they way they did, though. Just like downvotes are supposed to hide dangerous or bad advice and never be used because people don't like you. That doesn't mean it's how anyone uses it.
