AC.. Colorado Springs?

How hot do the summer's usually get in the Colorado Springs area? Is AC necessary?

  • I lived there for 7 years without central air. A realtor told us 80-90% of the homes don't have it. Most businesses do.

    CS is a desert climate, so the days are dry and the evenings cool down nicely. There are some days in summer where it gets into the 90s, with August being the most humid (nothing like the south!) We got by just fine with fans, open windows, and a window AC unit in the master bedroom.

  • Weather has changed everywhere and CS is warmer than it was when I moved there in 1973. Then no houses had AC but when we built our last house in 1995 we put in AC. New community with no trees and the sun is very hot at that altitude. In the summer it can be 90-95 but cool down in the evening so you can open the house and fans make it comfortable. More and more houses and apt have AC.
