Do you believe that the truth comes out when you've been drinking?

I've heard that your true feelings come out when you've been drinking, b/c alcohol lowers your inhabitions. Have you found this to be true?

  • I have personally seen this happen to a few people while we were drinking in a pub. I do not drink but when I do a lot of things come out. Alcohol gives loose lips.

  • oh yes alcohol can be a form of liquid courage and seems to make you forget to filter things that you would filter when you are sober.

  • Haha, yes. Alcohol is liquid courage for a lot of people.

  • Most of the time. Sometimes drinking just makes you say and do stupid things.

  • Alcohol can lower inhabitions, but it also lowers your sense of judgment.

  • It can for certain people, other people can still hide their true feelings and others tend to lie and/or hide even more. Alcohol affects everyone differently, for example I can just as easily hold my tongue and even lie when I'm drunk as I can when I'm sober. My BIL on the other hand is a very honest drunk - he says exactly what's on his mind and even when he tries to lie it's obvious that he's lying.
