  • YES but only because I really don't have any extra money for things like that. I am a waitress who supports 4 people and lives in govt. housing. If you truly don't have the money for a gift they will understand. Now if this wedding is for someone not a close friend or relative, then no gift may not be the best idea. In my situation - I just declined going to the wedding because the couple was not close enough to know my situation.

  • I only attend the weddings of close friends and family who invited me because they want me there not just to get a gift or the feel obligated because we are cousins... I usually only spend a few dollars on a couple nice candles or something small off of the registry. Anyone close enough to us knows we have no money for a huge amount of extras.
