  • It may be something that you just have to do, deal with the cranky and crying until he learns that this is the way it is from now on. He's two, I don't think he'll be traumatized for life when the bottles are gone.

  • I agree. Cold turkey. Have him put all his bottles into a bag or box and set them on the porch before bed one night. Explain that the bottle fairy is going to take them to a sweet little newborn baby and leave him some brand new sippy cups and big boy cups, then follow through, bottle fairy! ;-)

As for night time drinks, make sure he has a drink before bed and then keep a sippy cup of water in his room. Our son is a little older but he is thirsty all the time so he has a couple of bottles of water he keeps right next to his bed and if he's thirsty in the night, he takes a drink and goes back to sleep. If your son is still in a crib, just be prepared to offer him the water and then remove it from the crib once he's back to sleep.

    Good luck!

  • ive heard that for the drinks at night, if you give them their drink about a half hour to an hour before bed and make sure they drink till they are done, then go about a bed time routine not involving the drinks, (a nice bath, reading, cuddle time) after awhile (it takes 22 days to create a habit) they forget that they used to soothe themselves to sleep with a bottle. im not sure how to go from bottle to sippy, but i cant wait to hear what the moms have to say!

  • Cold turkey is the way to go! Throw all bottles away so you aren't tempted. It will be hard and frustrating.. but it will be so worth it in the end.
