Can a lien b put on a paid off car for unpaid fines?

  • a lien just means that they have legal right to take it if you don't pay for it. i doubt they do that for fines. places like mechanics can place a lien say if you go get car work done and then don't pay for it, they give you so long to pay for it then put a lien on it and can sell it to make up for their losses. another type of lien would be if you were having it refinanced or taking a loan on it like collateral. if their is a lien placed on it they would let you know. legally they have to let you know.
