  • Avoid sushi, certain types of fish, and make sure meat is all properly cooked.
    Cut back on caffiene and unhealthy treats, but you can still have those things.
    Aside from that... stick with the obvious.

  • King mackerel, shark, tile fish, tuna (especially bluefin), and swordfish are highest in mercury and other toxins. Beyond that, as long as your seafood is properly cooked, it's fine. Seafood is actually high in omega 3s, which are very good for the baby. Try to have seafood 1-2 times a week if you can, or take a supplement with ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). No soft cheeses- Brie, bleu cheese, etc. Try not to eat a lot of hot dogs, lunch meats, or other processed meats. They have added nitrates, which aren't good for the baby, and they have higher levels of listeria and other bacteria that can pass to the baby. No more than 200mg a day of caffeine. Other than that, as long as it sounds good to you, it's likely okay. Try to eat plenty of fruits and veggies, and keep your diet balanced. Lean proteins, whole grains, and lowfat/nonfat dairy products. Good luck!

  • Seafood is fine for a baby, as long as it's low in mercury....your OB should give you a list of what types of seafood are "good" and which to "avoid"....if they haven't, ASK for it....

  • Fish is actually one of the best things to eat when you're prego!!!!!!!! It helps develop the brain!!!!!! Just stay away from the junk food, it just makes you gain more weight! There's not really anything that you eat(food wise) that will hurt the baby it will just make you gain more weight and will be hard to get it off when the baby comes!

  • To add to my answer....I should have said that it can't have mercury in it...BUT dont avoid fish all together!!!!! It really does help the brain develop!
