  • *sigh*

The people have spoken. Therefore, Gay marriage should NOT be legal.

    It's time to move on.

Now more discussions about this, please.

    Let's leave it at that.

  • it doesn't really matter because gay marriage is not legal now..............................but I do think they were definitely lying when they ran those commercials.

Same with the lies about it not being taught in schools. If you have half a brain you know that they will be teaching about gay marriage in schools if it had become legal. But its not. So no worries.

  • OP: I think you're comparing apples and oranges.

the ads said that allowing gay marriage to CONTINUE wouldn't affect the tax status of churches. it did NOT pass, and now some groups want the mormon churches tax free status suspended NOT for discrimination but for wielding political influence.

according to IRS law regarding non-taxable entities:

no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation (except as otherwise provided in section (h)), and which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.

Well prop 8 passed so taxing the mormom church would not be due to pop 8. It's because they broke some rules taht allow them to be tax exempt. If prop 8 would not have passed and/or the Mormons would not hav ebroken the rules they would not have to worried about loosing their tax exempt priviledges.

  • I think it's a shame when somebody fighting for something the believe in is caught in a lie. It makes people not take you seriously.
