Homemade laundry detergent????

Ok so I got my answers on what to use as a substitute...But I went to the website:

I read it, it looks cheap and all but wont the borax hurt my kids skin or even mine and my DH's????

  • Borax while natural can be toxic in LARGE quantities. I didn't look at that specific link given...but my recipe is 1 bar of ivory soap (milder than fels naptha), 2 cups borax, 2 cups washing soda and 3.5 gallons of water. You use a 1/4 cup per load. So while anyone can have an allergic reaction to anything, i've never had a problem with this recipe and it's even been used on my daughters clothes for her entire life.

    Some that just still don't like the idea of borax can substitute it with 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup additional washing soda!
