do you cook eggs for hard boiled eggs?

  • If you like them to be nice yellow but cook all the way without looking too gray, use my mom's trick. Put them to boil, as soon as you see bubbles time them for 3 mins, then turn off and let them sit for 5 - 10 mins, then run under cool water. Takes a few time to know exactly how you like them.

  • I put water in the pot the same time as eggs so they come to a boil together and only for 10 minutes at that. also a trick if you bring the water to boil first and drop the eggs in and one cracks drop in an unburned match. the sulfur in the match tip helps prevent the egg from coming out of the crack and making a mess....

  • Put the eggs in a pan, and cover with cold water. Put the lid on and put on to boil. Once it starts boiling, shut the heat off, let sit 10 minutes, then pour off the hot water and rinse with cold. Peel while still a little warm. Perfect every time.
