Am i suppose to be "soft"

im 10 weeks and 1 day pregnant.. this hasn't been a easy pregnancy. i been having docs appointments like theres no tomorrow! n one of my docs says im really soft down there.. am i suppose to me? is this normal?

  • that seems like an odd thing to say to me.. but seems normal. your cervix tightens the farther along you are.

  • I'm pretty sure your cervix is supposed to 'ripen' as you get further along, to allow for dilation. I guess that could be synonymous for soft.

  • No, softness is associated with effacement close to delivery. Supposedly your cervix should feel as hard as the tip of your nose until you start effacing/ripening close to labor.

    If your Dr. believes you are too soft early on, ask what can be done about it. I've heard that some women have a surgical stitch put into their cervix if their Dr. doesn't believe they can carry to term without it...

  • i don't think you should be soft until you are ready to deliver... i would ask if there are any issues.
