What veggies do you grow in your garden?

I am expanding my veggie garden this year. I am wondering about all the differant varieties.(ie.purple carrots) Do you grow any unusual varieties or any other you recommend? Also feel free to share any tips. Thanks

  • I only grow green onions. But I have fruit trees and a grape vine. But purple carrots sound interesting.

  • I plan to put in tomatoes, red bell peppers, and onions again. I would also like to put in an herb garden this year. I'm not the best at it, but I have done well with those three things. I don't can, so what grows, we eat. When it's gone, it's gone.

  • We always have tomatoes, my dad waits on pins and needles to get a fresh garden tomato! lol We also grow cucumbers and squash. We've tried, to no avail, green beans & bell peppers. We have a huge pack of veggies we're going to try this year, I'm hoping we're successful.

  • Due to the deer I have to have a container garden on my deck. I grow, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers and fennel. Herb: basil, lavender, chives and sage. Last year was a bad year due to the weather.

  • We live in an apartment now but back in the day when I lived with my aunt and uncle we grew corn, tomatoes, lettuce (which didn't turn out too great), squash, and dandelions. My aunt would cook the dandelions.

  • I put in an asparagus bed last year & I'm hoping it comes back this year (they're perrenials, but it's been a hard winter). There's nothing better than fresh picked asparagus. I also have a couple of fruit trees, a strawberry patch and a very small raspberry patch. For our main garden this year, I'm planting all blue, cranberry red, yukon gold, caribe & butte potatoes, paste tomatoes, spaghetti squash, corn, carrots, radishes, onions, several varieties of leaf lettuce, peas, pole beans, cucumbers, kohlrabi, cantaloupe, broccoli, zuchinni, watermelon, pumpkins, garlic, shallots, chives, basil, oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme, dill and mint.

  • Last year we had 2 varieties of tomato, green pepper, strawberries, rasberries, mulberries, lavendar, basil, thyme, lemon thyme, sage, rosemary, garlic chives and basil. When we moved in there was an apple tree, variety unknown. Last year the apples were filled with worms. I am hoping to solve this without chemicals and have some apples. I am also looking forward to a large expansion this year with more varieties of fruits, veggies and herbs. Even the kids 9 and 4 are looking forward to growing and trying something new. The purple carrots have particularly sparked there's and my interest.
