how much should my 3 month old be eating?

I know that the pedi told me that he shouldn't go over a certain amount of ounces per day, I just can't remember how many it was. He eats about 3-5 ounces about every 3 hours during the day. He eats at 10:00 or 11:00 and then wakes up at 3:00 AM to eat, and then not again till 7:00 AM. Normal for a 3 month old?

  • Basically, on average, a 3 month old will be taking in 4-6 oz per feeding. They will be eating as often as every 2-4 hours.
However, all babies are different. Some might like to have a few large feedings, some lots of little feedings.

  • Sound perfect to me. He should eat around 25-30 oz/day for 6-8 feedings on average.

  • yea mine ate 3-4 oz every two hours and woke up about 2-3 time a night for a feeding. Call me naughty but i was also putting rice in his bottle and started him on baby food at about 31/2m He was always hungry but could only hold no more then 4 oz at a time. Your baby seems to be eating well. Don't worry as long as hes getting 25oz a day

  • Just feed your baby when it is hungry. You caould even start cereal to help get through the night. I started cereal at 2 1/2 months because i could feed my daughter enough she would have been attached to my boob 24/7. They will also go through growth sputs and eat non stop then when they are done it will seem like they eat nothing just make sure they have wet diaper i think 6 a day it is and they are having their regular bowel mvmts

  • My son will be 4 months next week and has been eating about 5oz every 2 hours during the day and then 5 oz. every 4 hours at night. He's been doing this for the past couple weeks when he hit a growth spurt and just kept up with that schedule. I'm afraid to give him any more than 5oz at a time because he has reflux and I'm afraid he'll spit it all back up! But he always lets me know when he's hungry so whenever he wants to eat I feed him.
