Would you cover this window up?

In the living room are three rather large windows.  They all have plantation blinds.  But, one has this rather large half moon at the top that is not covered.  I love the fact that it opens it up without being covered, but am worried that it might get too hot, as it faces the west.   Would you cover it?  What would use you?

Just getting ideas.

  • I wouldn't cover it. You could always have it tinted if it gets too hot. I had a guy come over the other day and give me that option.

  • We have a total of 10 full-length casement windows in the front of our Southwest facing home, and in the summer (before we planted a bunch a shade trees, which have matured and helped considerably!), those rooms would get stifling! We looked around and found a heat blocking window product that you can buy at Home Depot and online that allows you to see out, but blocks the damaging affects of sunlight on carpet and furniture and high temperatures.
