  • 20% or more if service is good

Answer by genagina at 6:44 PM on Mar. 13, 2011

  • If the service was so so and nothing more, 15%. But if we get great service and good food, the server can get 25% or more from us when we eat out. For the places we go often the wait staff usually fight to be our server because they know we actually tip. Here in SC TOO many people dont tip a dime no matter what . Its not legally required to tip, but never tipping when you spend 150 on dinner for 2, got great service and food is just IGNORANT.

  • It depends on the service. Good service we leave 20%. Fair service 10-15%. Bad, rude or inept service we leave 0. In 30 years we have only left zero tip 3 times. I try to be understanding with waitstaff. I've been there.

  • Im a server, and i work day shift at a well known breakfast place. It seems that the older the people, the more i get 1 and 2
dollar tips, no matter the bill or the service. People dont know that standard tipping is 18 percent now!

  • 15-20%. It depends on the service received. I'm not tipping to standards so much as quality.

Answer by Ginger0104 at 7:20 PM on Mar. 13, 2011

  • Usually 20% unless service wasn't too great. The % goes down the worse the service was.

Answer by elizabr at 7:32 PM on Mar. 13, 2011

  • Always 20 % unless it was terrible

Answer by jeanclaudia at 7:34 PM on Mar. 13, 2011

  • 20% most of the time, but if it's not too great, then 15%

Answer by SherriPie at 7:56 PM on Mar. 13, 2011

  • I don't go by percentage, I go by what I think they deserve. I used to waitress and I know how hard waitressing can be and how low you paycheck can be. I try to always tip well.
