  • Not in a long time, but yes. We've attended 2 like that. Both were for young couples that didn't have many resources and either little to no family around. Both ceremonies were simple outdoor/park kind of informal events. They couldn't afford a big wedding but they still wanted to share the day with friends and loved ones.

  • Yes, a young couple at church and they are struggling financially. I have never known any one to have a potluck reception.....wondered if this is a new trend or the only way this couple could figure to have a reception.

  • Yes, my one sister did that. Not something I was proud of, but my mom and sister thought it was a really great idea to have everyone bring a favorite dish and bring the recipe for her.

  • i had a friend who had a potluck for their reception and they asked everyone they invited to bring a covered dish and personally think its a bad idea
