What can I take for a cough?

I am 11 weeks pragnant and can't take sudafed for a cough. What has your doctors said you can take for a cough?

  • its JUST a cough, just tough it out it isnt hurting anything major.

  • when i got sick, i didnt want to risk taking anything, especially in the first trimester. i just drank hot cocoa or hot tea for my throat to feel better, and wait it out it will be gone in a few days. i try to make sure i stay warm at night so i dont get sick again!

    i've had coughs so bad that i've broken ribs from all the forceful coughing. so, instead of toughing it out, you could also take robitussin dm, trind-dm, vicks cough syrup, romilar or cough drops.
    and be sure that you use ONLY these formulations. no multi-symptom versions or sustained action (SA) versions.

  • peppermints work good on sore throats and help just a tad for coughs. you wanna check w/ your doctor about any meds you take in your 1st trimester, as that is the most critical time.
