Was wondering if anyone knows how to make a rue (sp)?

I want to make a turkey a la king and it is supposed to have a flour, butter and milk mixture used to make the sauce. I just don't know how to make the sauce for this.

  • Roux is the spelling you want.

  • Melt a few tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, until it stops bubbling. Then add a few tablespoons of flour and whisk together. Cook until it starts to smell "nutty" (the flour has cooked). Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring constantly. It's done when it has thickened and will coat the back of a spoon.
