  • I've been in areas that had natural disasters, but was lucky and had minimal or no damage. There are tornadoes in this area every year and the Nashville/Middle TN floods last year. We were fine, but many people around us lost everything. I'm not even sure if they're going to rebuild Opry Mills it's still so bad there. Many areas were declared disaster areas (including parts of my county), and they are still working to rebuild many areas. Technically, I've been through earthquakes, but they were very small--one was big enough to wake me up with a sense that something was wrong and I discovered it was an earthquake when I turned the news on a few minutes later.

I was too young to remember the first one I was in, there was a big hurricane when I was a baby and my parents still lived in Florida. I think they had to leave their home and go to a shelter.
