How can I get my power back on?????

So I am working and husband works on and off (he's a tow truck driver) and I came home from work yesterday and our power is off! GRRR. I have been paying them money every payday. They want like $700.00 for a reconnect fee.
Everyone that we have gone to said we make too much money to get any help---

WHAT CAN I DO????? Oh and the Power company said they do not have to follow the Minnesota Cold Weather Act. I don't know why...

Any ideas??? They wont take anything less than $1000.00 I give them what we can but it is never enough and our bills are always 2 or 300 a month for some reason. And that is not our heat source.

ANY HELP??

  • They cant shut the power off if you had a payment plan set up & you were following it as agreed. So you must not have followed it. Go get a loan maybe.

  • Call your state senator and tell them what they said and its your only heat source and see if they cant help. Above that I know my best friends sister got a pay as you go electric plan. I never knew they even had these. You pay say $100 and when you get down to the last $10 they call you and you add money. Again this was the first her & I ever heard of it but it turns out it is true and apparently alot of companies are doing this now. OR buy a generator until you can save money to pay them.

  • It is not my heat source but my heat source is in floor heated slab, and it runs off power. So it does need to be on to run it

I did have a plan set up, they came and shut it off because my plan was not good enough. I have propane heat, but ran on power to run heater,

This company has always been expensive. Ever since we built our house our bills have NEVER been under 150 a month. I am the only really stable one in my family.

When you are not making enough to pay everything, you split it out and that is what I am doing. I have been major coupon clipping, saving where ever I can. And nothing is working........

  • I normally wouldn't suggest this, cause they are such a bad idea, but what about a payday loan, just to get the power back on? As I said, they are such a bad idea, but with no other options, you might want to consider it. I'm so sorry that happened. You all will be in my prayers. Best wishes.
