  • My kids have been cracking eggs since they were around 2. They love helping me, but I haven't let them near the hot stove. I'm even afraid with my 15 year old!

  • My kids started helping me around 2 years old, my 13 yr old can cook for himself if need be. My daughter is more interested than anyone of the other kids, she's been in the kitchen with me, literally since she's been born....first it was in her bassinet while I cooked dinner, then she graduated to her swing, then high chair....now she stands on a chair beside me, and helps prepare...she will stir scrambled eggs while I stand beside her, she's 5. She can make her own toast and butter it.... she helps me bake also.

I will say that if I am cooking anything that can "splash" or "pop" she isn't allowed near the stove, but she can help prepare it. I am to horrified of the thought of her having to endure a grease burn at her age. It does them really good to help both preparing, cooking/baking, and cleaning up afterwards...
