9 month old swollen leg

ive been trying to switch to cloth diapers for my little girl because she gets such horrible rashes on her stuff from them. so i switched and have been using them a few months now and over the weekend her left leg started to get red and then got swollen around where the diaper wraps her leg. sometimes during the week i will lay a cloth diaper into a disposable so i can use its velcro but her body doesnt touch it instead of fooling with the pins. the diaper may have touched her leg but shes never had that reaction to it before and she used to just use disposables and never swole up like this. is there something i can put on it to calm the swelling or do i just need to take her into the pedi? i dont knwo if it was the diaper or if shes allergic to something i fed her or what. help! thanks!

  • It's a lot harder to keep a rash off a baby's bottom with cloth diapers. The urine will sit on the skin until mom sees it. I've used both. Disposable diapers soak in the urine so that it doesn't touch the skin. She may also be allergic to the soap or the bleach that you are using to clean the diapers. I would suggest using a fragrance free/dye free laundry soap and reduce the amt of bleach used.

  • The most likely answer is that the diaper is too tight around her leg ... pick a larger size.
