When you buy a gift for a friend, do you buy them something that they would normally use or wear or something that is more of your style?

I am asking because i was cleaning out my closet& realized that alot of the clothes i dont wear, have been given to me by my sil as a gift. Every single blouse is something she would wear not me. We have different styles. When i buy gifts, i buy things that the person likes or is in to. Dont get me wrong they are nice gifts.Idk now that im thiking about it, its kinda rude of her, lol.Years ago i bought her an outfit that was more of my taste& she returned it for something she liked& from there on i started buying her gifts in her style.

  • i usually try to get them something that they will like

  • I have this friend who is sooo thoughtful about things like this that she is always sort of asking and taking notes about what peoples' preferences are, needs, things they like, favorite foods, colors, all that.

I, on the other hand, am not as good as she is about remembering these things except my family.

So, honestly, I try to get them something they would like of course, but I usually end up doing a gift certificate and a thoughtful card, unless I really know they'll like something... If this person is also friends with my super thoughtful friend, I'll ask her what she thinks, of course.
