If you have Wind Turbines around your area...

How do you feel about them? I live in Pennsylvania and in the area I live in there are two spots where they have placed the windmills on the mountains. I never realized it but many people I have talked to are against them because they say they are eye sores. I personally think it makes us as a state look better for trying to use alternative methods for energy. If you have any in your area, how do you feel about them??

  • Same as But_Mommie. Never seen them, except on tv. I think they are pretty, too,or at least interesting.

  • I think they are a heck of a lot more aestetically pleasing than coal-burning power plants or nuclear plants.

  • I'd have one in my own back yard. I've seen pictures of several in a single line and I think it looks like art.

Exactly. They do ruin the view and you have to clear a pretty large area to put one in. But sooooo much nicer than the alternatives. I really don't understand areas that fight them.

  • We have several by the waterfront not too far from downtown Buffalo, half the time half of them aren't running.
i don't think they are eye sores at all but I wish they functioned to their potential. I would love acreage someday and my own smaller scale turbine.

I've seen some dramatic footage of them blowing up or catching on fire on youtube such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nSB1SdVHqQ
    and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppLh5pGX3qQ&feature=related

  • The Coachella Valley wind farms are a real neat sight, in my opinion. I don't mind them at all.

  • The ones we have are huge. They sit on the top of the mountains that surround our town.

  • We have a bunch in TX but they are not near me so I don't see them. I don't really want one in my back yard but if they are out in the middle of nowhere or in the ocean or mountains where you see them from afar I don't mind. I don't use them for electricity either.
