  • I suppose only if you're allergic to it, like some people can't have anything with Red #40, yanno? But I've never heard anything about it being harmful unless you're already allergic to it.

  • I am not sure it is a wive's tale!!! I am not allergic to any food or meds. During my 2nd pregnancy I started getting spots on my belly - they looked like chicken pox (which I convinced myself I had). Well they seemed to linger forever. I did not see a dermatologist, but on my own decided to start watching my red dye intake (on the advice of a friend). Well I m amazed, I have become sensitive to that dye! And now I get hives when I eat twizzlers (my favorite)!!!

This is all new during my second pregnancy.

But I have not seen anything that it is bad for the fetus.
