Is it normal for my 4 almost 5 year old to have B/O under her arms?

  • According to my daughter's tumbling/dance instructor, it is not uncommon. I see in the monthly newsletter quite often that she wants us to take a whiff of our kids' pits after practices and that, if they stink, to please start using deodorant.

  • does it actually smell? Or is she just sweaty?

A little sweat is OK, but if it smells bad then it's a little strange. Our sweat begins to smell when we develop hormones when we're going through puberty.

  • my son has been wearing deodorant since he was 4 (he is 5 almost 6 now) he just sweats so much that it was foul, so to keep him from being the "stinky" kid we just started using deodorant.
