What is a fair price for driving to someones house and watching their two kids, 3 and 1, for 12 hours?

I was offered 50 dollars a day once a week to watch my friends two kids in her house, about 10 miles away, i get 6 mpg in my car so that's 10 dollars in gas each time and 40 for 12 hours with two kids seems low to me, but i don't know? I will also have my 1 year old with me.

  • waking hours? Fifty is low but it's cash under the table. I'd say at least 10 and hour.

  • Seems low to me. I paid a sitter 20 dollars a day for 9 hours a day, 7 days a week. I was paying like over 500 a month for a sitter. It was horrible. And that's a pretty decent price for Dallas Texas.

  • I don't think its a bad price, If getting there is a problem then don't do it, but you are still coming out ahead. She is paying you over $4 a hr and that isn't bad for daycare in my area.

  • Based on the drive alone it does seem a bit low.

  • I would say the 50$ sounds good. And I like the fact that it is in her house, that way the other kids are more comfortable and no mess at your house! Thats 200$ a month, I would take it, times are hard!
