How many grandparents does your child have?

I had 4. Both sets were always married to each other. My son however has 8! Two of the couples are not married but have been together longer than my son has been alive. It's a long story but we are lucky to have such a big family and so many people who love our son.

  • With all the divorces in my family, they have 4 living grandmothers, 2 living grandfathers, 3 living great grandmothers, 1 living great grandfather, and up until last year, they had 2 great great grandmothers, but they passed within months of each other.

I will also say that we don't do "step" titles in our family. To me it makes it sound less "real" and valid, and the love each of these people show my children is definitely real and valid.

  • Their great-grandparents are all gone. They have FIL and his new wife, his ex-wife who is still like a grandma - and they never see these people. Then there's MIL, who is now divorced again and her ex is NOTHING like a grandparent (thankfully). Rarely see her, but the kids know her. That only leaves my mom and stepdad - my own dad died when I was almost 16. So technically 6, but really more like 2.

  • My kids have four grandparents, and three great grandparents.

My mom did divorce my biological father when I was very little. I don't have any contact with him. She remarried when I was 4 and he is my DAD and has been with us through all of our childhood. So there is divorce in our family, but still just 4 grand parents.

  • My daughters have a grandmother on my side and my husbands side. They also have one grandfather, my dad. My husbands father has never been in the picture even when he was young so they currently have 3 even though my dad lives in another state and only sees us maybe 2 times a year. My girls do have 2 great grandmothers though. Both on my side. My mom's mom and my dad's mom.

  • Technically 4. My mom, MIL, my dad and my step-mom. My FIL passed away. However, my dad and step-mom never pay any attention to my kid so I have a hard time calling them grandparents.
