Why do some dogs like to lick?

My terrier can lick my hubby's or sons' leg for about an hour. lol My other dogs didn't do that.

  • For some dogs it's a nervous condition and terriers are prone to those. I had a Rottweiler that was a licker, my vet said she was borderlined being OCD lol. She licked so much that she actually wore a hole in MANY dog beds and blankies.

  • My Westie licks the leather recliner constantly . . . . it's HIS chair now. It's a job to him . . . . as soon as he gets up in the morning and finishes stretching and scratching, he goes straight to the recliner to begin his day . . . .
