If you saw a masculine looking person with a full beard, wearing men's clothes....

you would assume it's a man - even if he has a ponytail.....right?!

So what makes babies any different? I was in the store earlier today with my youngest DD, 5 months, and she was wearing purple, in a pink carseat, with a pink and white blanket. Two different people said "He's so cute". Really? About a month ago, someone did the same and I said "SHE." She then said "Oh, well she doesn't have much hair, so I just thought it was a boy."

WHY don't people use the clues surrounding them to make an educated guess? Pink clothes, pink seat, pink blanket - oh, but very little hair - must be a boy. Seriously? I didn't realize infants were supposed to have ponytails.

  • People are so stupid, boys only have shorter hair then girls because we, as parents, get it cut that way. While they are little babies, they will have about the same amount of hair!!!

  • LOL Same thing would happen to me when dd was an infant. She was wearing all pink with a bow in her hair, a pink carseat and a pink pacifier. But yet some asked if she was a boy or a girl! LOL it was mostly men....

  • i would judge based on clothes before I judged based on hair length. Plenty of men have long hair, but very rarely do they wear purple. Not to mention, many babies dont have hair for a couple of years.

  • Uhh... actually, I know of a woman who really, really looks like a man. Has a full grown mustache and wears her hair very short. She seriously looks like a man who is a bit chubby and has man boobs.

  • I know what you mean, except reverse. I have a little boy with the prettiest blue eyes and cutest curls(that i just can't bring myself to cut), so I purposely dress him in very boyish clothes (shirts with trucks, dinosaurs, etc), and people all the time tell me how pretty my little girl is. LOL, He's a BOY.

  • lol same thing happened to my mom with one of my siblings. One of my younger brother's had the biggest light brown eyes and long curly blonde hair. I even had people telling me I had such a cute sister while he was wearing blue pants and a shirt with trains on it..... yeah. I snapped and said very loud. "HE'S MY BROTHER!" lol everyone turned to look.

  • THESE days? LOL. When I had my first baby--a girl--in 1967, people kept saying "Oh isn't he cute!" and she was dressed in pink, with a bow on top of her head! It was so funny!
