  • In times when I've been lonely I threw myself into craft projects, reading, working out, hanging out with friends. Keep busy while you move through whatever stage you are going through.

  • I have found the best cure for loneliness is to do some random act of kindness for another person who may also be lonely. Visit someone who is sick or can't get out. Take along a small bouquet of flowers or some homemade goody, and stay and visit a while. If you don't know such a person, go to the retirement home nearest you and ask at the office which of their residents has little or no company and make a new friend. I promise you it is the very best cure for feeling alone.
