The end of religion is nigh!

well - while many wish and many counter assert - there has at least been some research that suggests this may be happening - in certain countries.

It is part of a long term trend since the age of enlightenment of course, one that encourages me to hope...
this link explains why and how the measurement is made

  • That is very interesting and encouraging.  It's also the first step towards world peace.

  • Interesting. I think people who are POST-THEISTS hope for this--not just that religion declines, but specifically that humanity (already has or) will soon evolve beyond a need for religion. If we can maintain morals without religion, then it becomes obsolete from their POV. I think it's an interesting perspective. One of my relatives is a Unitarian Universalist post-theist. They believe God belongs to a past stage of human development. They don't really reject 'God' or religion in general--just consider it to be obsolete.

  • Okay... and?

  • religion may be dying but people will always have their spiritual beliefs...we may just keep it to ourselves instead of parading it around and telling others they are wrong for not following our specific beliefs. i do find that refreshing. the study said that ppl claiming "no religious affiliation" was climbing, but that doesnt necessarily mean ppl do or dont believe in a higher being. then again i didnt have time to read the whole article so i could be wrong.

but i dont think it will change much in our day to day lives as there will ALWAYS be stupid things for humanity to fight each other over.

  • I believe that organized religions are what may be disappearing ....
Ppl having their own beliefs in the divine isn't... they are just more apt
to having a more one on one with their God(s)/Beliefs...

  • – collapse
All religions will be no more when Jesus returns for 1000 years of peace on earth with mankind. MAN created "religion" NOT God or the creator.
