New Mom suggestions

so i had my kids a few years ago and have kind of forgotten what you need the first week of life..my friend is due any day now and i want to make sure she has everything.. is there anything i should ad to this list of necessities

-alcohol for cleaning cord
-cotton balls for alcohol
-thermometer to check temp
- nursing bra
-nursing pads-nipple cream
-blankets
-onesies
-burp rags
-diapers and wipes

  • Maybe some diaper rash ointment, a crib or bassinet, baby bathtub, baby soap and lotion, baby towel and washrags, diaper bag, maybe a sling, and pre-prepared meals are wonderful for the first few weeks.

  • You may want to double check, but doctors say now that you really dont need alcholo for the cord unless you think its dirty :) We didn't use it and our DD cord did just fine. Some sort of bouny chair or swing so she can put her down somewhere other than the bassinet :) Good job though!

  • nail clippers...i know that sounds weird but you know them little nails grow fast

  • Nail clippers or a nail file is a good one, I actually needed this at the hospital because DD's nails were so long at birth. Another thing is to make sure Mommy had pads at home. I had to go out to Target to get some a day or two after coming home because I was running out and totally sick of the hospital supply of enormous maxi pads. I didn't trust DH to pick them out himself LOL!
