Need healthy side dish to go with sloppy joes.

Son is picky, doesn't like salad. Want something healthy other than mac and cheese or fries. Help?

  • Veggies are healthy, so is salad. rice is healthy as are potatoes if you dont add bad things or cook them in fat.

  • food with sloppy joes you can add a salad or vegs, fruit, mashed pts would be good. can take the sloppy joes mixture and did what I did one night and instead of buns I mixed in cooked macoroni or even spagetti. and came out very good. corn is good.

  • Veggies of any sort. We had our version of sloppy joes last night (no buns) and had some pasta with butter & parmesan cheese for our carb, broccoli for our veggie (steamed & raw with dip, carrots were an option too but no one wanted them), and oranges for our fruit.

I assume you'll be using buns though ;). So, a veggie of any kind, a fruit, and some dairy...almost a round meal.

  • There is a website that has some really good sides. It is called Food on the Table.

It is a meal planning website i've been loving....uses sale items from your local gro stores, gives you recipes to choose from and sends a grocery list to your iPhone.
They just added sides and in their forum is this discussion of their best and easiest sides. Wish I had time to find the specific link to the forum.
