Is this a healthy eating day so far?

I don't understand why I'm sitting here with low blood sugar, I thought I had eaten a pretty well-balanced, stick-to-your-ribs spread today. What's wrong? here's what I've eaten:

Breakfast: 1 1/2 cups cooked oatmeal (1 tbsp butter 2 tsp sugar), 1/2 apple, 1 cup milk

Snack: fiber one granola bar

Lunch: Salmon chowder (lots of veggies), 2 slices garlic bread (home made French bread... it was white, though), water

now I'm eating some baby carrots to try to even this out.

What's up? I know the white bread wasn't particularly healthy, and there was a little too much fat in the chowder, but I shouldn't be having problems :(

  • How do you know you have low blood sugar? Do you test?
    I think your diet is pretty good, but the bread ...white bread is not healthy
    More protein in your diet will help with the blood sugar,don't you think?

  • More protein would be good. Yes, I'm used to having more carbs in a day. Usually I eat twice that amount lol.

    I don't test, but I have symptoms of low blood sugar. Shaking, sweating, sometimes it gets so bad I feel faint, all after I have not eaten and feel very hungry.

    I'm trying to be healthier. I will eat more protein today, I'm sure that will help. I really thought there would be enough protein in the chowder, but I guess not!
