  • It depends on the dogs that you have, their temperaments and social skills. If they are not easy to handle right now, or friendly with other people, you will need to work on that if you want the best chances with the kids. Any dog can be poorly behaved with children. Training and heavily socializing the dogs will give you the best chance.

  • Meh dont' know much about those kinds of dogs, not a fan of them at all.  BUT when I was born we had German Shepherds, my kids have grown up with big dogs and no problems.  My kids grew up with cats and kittens.

  • I wish I could say no, but I have to say yes. I got a CHI when my kids were toddlers. He was ok with my kids, but when other kids started coming over to play her bit them. He bit 2 people. He went to live with a lady that has 5 other biting chi's.

  • i use to think i didn't like little dogs either until i read that most little dogs are annoying because there owners let them get away with anything i'm use to big dogs too so i taught my little ones the same as my big ones they should not get away with being bad just because they are small lol

  • Oh trust me hun, i've seen owners let their BIG dogs get away with everything lol. Although I do see it might be easier to do with little dogs, I dunno, I have 2 big ones lol. But as long as your dogs are raised well (which sounds like they are) no reason for them to NOT be good family dogs

  • Zakysmommy you are sooo right about ppl letting there dogs just run wild i try to raise them right don't get me wrong they aren't ready to be police dogs but i;ve been reading alot about chi's with new ppl and espeacially little rowdy ones and its not good =( but like you said too i'm sure since they will kinda be raised together and as long as i pay close attention while they are getting use to one another we will be ok

  • I now have 2 big dogs. My chi was not allowed to get away with anything that any of my other dogs aren't. He just got aggressive. He snipped at anyone coming in the front door. They get possessive of one owner. Good luck with your little ones, both human and fur babies.

  • I own a 3 year old chihuahua, and she is the best companion for my DD. They play all day, chase each other, what seems to be tag lol
Its all about the dogs personality. My chihuahua LOVES kids and babies, lets them do whatever they want, and she is only a pound and a half. She kisses them, and snuggles on them when they sit down. So in my case, my chihuahua is the best i could have asked for!
