Ive had a sweet potato in the oven for fourty minutes and its still hard?

I put a slit in it
i wrapped it in tin foil
its been in there for 40 minutes on 400
lol any idea as to why its still hard as a rock??

  • Is it very large?
    Leave it longer. Did you preheat the oven? I like them very well done so I usually take at least one hour.

  • Hmmm, that is a long time. Mine are usually done by then, even squishy (sp?)

  • I agree, they usually take about an hour, especially if they are large, and that is in a fully preheated oven.

  • i always bake them for an hour...any less and they are hard

  • They DO microwave pretty good. Take the tin foil off and wrap it in a paper towel or wax paper.

  • before you bake them; cut in half, and than in half again like planks, face them down flat, and place them on a oiled cookie sheet or a 8x10 bake dish. (Cover over with foil,; or they'll burn ! )

    400 for 25 mins.
