Gift for First Communion

I have a neighbor making First Communion this spring. Our families are close and both Catholic - this little guy was in my Catechism class when he was in kindergarten. I'm thinking of giving him a card with cash, but am trying to settle on a dollar amount. What do you think might be appropriate?

  • I say $20-25 is enough. If he were related or close friend then I'd do more.

  • When my friend's daughter had hers I gave a card and $25 check which she put into her savings.

  • That sounds like a nice idea, and I think $25 is a good dollar amount. I remember that when I was little, my mom gave me the faux pearl bracelet that she were for her first communion. I still have it and the paint is all worn off, but it is special to me.
