Does your Lab get doggie pimples?

Mine does. He is constantly drooling all over his toys which promotes the bacteria to form pimples. I clean them and the dog dishes quite frequently but nothing you can do about the rawhide bones. They look like they hurt, poor guy but vet says the only thing to do is to clean the area and leave it alone. LOL...even adolescent pups get pimples!

  • First of all, rawhide is not good for dogs. The dog can chew off pieces and swallow them, then the pieces can swell and cause an obstruction...very dangerous. Anyway, what type of bowls do you use? If you use plastic, you may want to switch to stainless steel or ceramic. Plastic can harbor bacteria.

  • Definitely pimples. He's quite a drooler, never seen any dog so messy at the water bowl either. I do use ceramic and clean them before or after putting food/water in. I have read that about rawhides but he seems to eat through any other suggestions I've gotten thus far. He's a chewer as well as drooler. He's over 7 mos. now so he has his adult teeth. Thanks for the advice.
