I read a story to my kids every night before bed. Our stories are getting a little worn out and we need some new ones. What are your best loved books? We need book suggestions, please! :D

We love Berenstain Bears

Dr. Suess' The Lorax

The Giving Tree

Julius the Baby of the World

What are some best love stories in your house?

  • My daughter likes the poems from shel silverstein books like where the sidewalk ends and a light in the attic (she's 5 years old). She gets a kick out of the funny ones =)

  • The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

    Charlottes's Web

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl

And of course the Pooh Bear and Christopher Robin books by A.E. Milne , the originals not the Disney versions .

  • Since you asked in "5-8" I'm going to assume your children are that age. We started reading chapter books around that time, reading a chapter/night. Series books are fun - Magic Tree House was probably the favorite. And I read the old Little House series with my daughter.

  • My toddler loves the Llama Llama series from Anne Dewdney, Dr. Suess books and Jan Brett books. I can't wait for him to be older so we can read the Harry Potter series together.

  • If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and all the others that follow that book by the same author. My daughter has a book called Freckly Feet and Itches Noses that she loves. She also loves all the Sandra Boyton books. They are quick and easy reads. She also loves all the Dr. Suess but If I Ran the Circus is her favorite. It can be a real tongue twister but she loves to hear it.
