I wonder who came up with DS (Dear son), DD (Dear daughter), DH (Dear husband), etc.?

Why the "dear"?
Not that my DD, DS and DH aren't dear.....just saying.

  • idk but i think it's really stupid and it's not like it's hard to write daughter, son is one extra letter (god forbid having to type one extra letter)...refering to anyone as dear something is just...well stupid

  • A Really lazy typer or child because everyone is abbreviating all kinds of words these days. Pretty soon America is going to have American short hand English and people like me over 40 wont understand anyone younger than us. Even some of the questions here are using abbreviated words.
