How long does it take a sprain to heal?

My 22 month old fell from a chair (she loves to climb). She screamed for a while, so I took her to the ER. No broken bones, they said it might be a sprain, and if not better in a few days take her to her doctor. What will the doctor do?, he has no xray in the office. And it only seems to hurt her when she puts weight on her leg.

  • Some hair line breaks do not show up for days. How long it takes to heal depends on how bad the sprain is. It can take a few weeks or more in some cases. Id guess usually about 7-10 days.

  • He'll put a bandage on it and tell you to ice it.

  • Sprains are worse than fractures because the damage can last a long time and can cause problems down the road. There isn't much anyone can do but ice it.
