What's the difference between a double wide trailer and a single wide?

  • One if bigger then the other. Double wides are double in size.

  • Um... the width. ORiginally the trailer were just that - they hooked up to the back of a truck and trailed behind. When you got to your destination you unhooked it and set it down. Nowadays they are put on flatbed and brought in one piece to the site and dropped with a crane or somethng. A double-wide is brought in 2 pieces (both small enough to fit on a flatbed) and put together on site. So really it is the width of the house. look at the overall square feet to get an idea of space.

  • A double wide is usually a bit shorter than a single but double the width. There are some that are just as long and double the width.

  • The average size for a double wide is 28X56. The average size of a singe wide is either 10 x60 or 12X60.

  • a double wide is a thinner/narrow home a double wide is two singles put togetther they can be REALLY NICE TOO!!! my friend has a double wide and it is nicer/bigger than my parents house :D

  • About 14 feet. Around here, average size for a single wide is 14 feet, double wide is 28.

  • And they are usually called Mobil Homes now, vs trailers... this is a trailer... A Travel Trailer to be exact (and my DH LOL)...
