What is in ranch dressing that...

Would cause an allergic reaction. My one year old just had ranch dressing with her chicken nuggets and just broke out all around her mouth.

  • My daughter would react to Applebees ranch when she was younger. Found out that they use a buttermilk ranch. I wouldn't call hers a full-blown allergic reaction (had her tested too, but the causes were so nebulous), but would say it was a sensitivity-type reaction. She's four now and no longer has these reactions (thankfully!). I think between 18 months and 3 1/2 or so we were REALLY careful about what we gave her to eat, and watched for the rashes at her temples that indicated a reaction to TRY and catch the common denominator.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!

  • Dairy or any one of the many chemicals.

  • Vinegar. When My Son eats a pickle, ranch dressing or creamy Italian dressing he gets red all around his mouth. No swelling though & it goes away wthin an hour.

  • You sure it wasn't the chicken nuggets?

  • She has had the chicken nuggets before. I have questioned dairy. When she eats too much of it her pee gets all red a sore. The vinegar would make sense, too.

  • Well, I make my own ranch dressing. The store versions are loaded with junk.

  • some ranch dressings have fish oil in them... Or was it a new brand of nuggets? Could be something in the breading.
