Do you or did you make sure your infants slept on their back?

I always made sure all 3 of my kids slept on their backs up until 6 months. Even after that it is the only way that they sleep that is comfortable for them.

  • My oldest slept on his side, my younger 4 all slept on their back until they could roll over, but once they could roll they've all been tummy sleepers. No matter how I laid them down, they would roll right over to sleep.

  • Yes! I made sure to put them in bed on their back until they were a year old. If they flipped over after they went to sleep then after 6 months I left them alone. Since they slept in the crook of my arm until they moved to their cribs around age one, it was easy to keep them on their backs.

  • With my older 4 I always put them to bed on their backs. Once they learned to roll (between 3-5 months) they slept however they wanted but I always laid them down on their backs. With the last one I was more lax. He liked to sleep on his stomach so sometimes that's how I put him down. He's been rolling since 3 months so he's been sleeping how ever he likes since then.

  • I would put my kids to sleep in their backs when they were babies. They'd usually stay put, with the exception of wiggling their hands free of the swaddling. Once they learned to roll though, I'd find them in all sorts of weird sleeping positions.

  • Both of mine slept on the bellies unttil they could roll themselves over. Although I did nanny for my twin nephews when I was 19 and one of my nephews would only sleep on his belly... Scared me when I had to watch them over night.....

  • All four of mine have/do sleep on their backs. Sometimes my youngest (2 months, and cosleeps) will turn onto his side, but it's temporary, and he usually turns back over onto his back.

  • My first slept longer on her belly. She could lift her head early and I needed sleep. My second slept in a vibrating bouncer or on my chest or not at all. Mostly not at all.
