Maternity pictures outfits help!

I woke up this morning and decided I wanted to get some maternity/ family pictures done. We're just going to J.C. Penny this afternoon to have them done. I don't really want to spend money on outfits, so we're just going with things we have. Well, my hubby wears T shirts.. all the time. So I have a decent brown shirt for him that I bought for the last time we had pictures done. Undoubtedly, he'll be wearing that. I have been thinking all along that I would wear this burgundy shirt that I have because it looks super cute on me. Now here's where I'm having trouble, my five year old daughter has a big sister shirt that I was thinking I would put her in, but it's light blue with some pink flowers on it, and she wears it with a pink long sleeve shirt underneath. Do you think I should put her in the big sister shirt and have us not matching at all, or should I try to put her in something more neutral, like a cream or tan sweater?

  • Honestly, I think themed pics with matching outfits are tacky. Just put her in what looks cute.

  • Well they won't match no matter what, it will either be a brown shirt on hubby, a cream colored sweater on DD and a burgundy shirt on me, or brown on hubby, burgundy on me, and blue and pink on DD.. I'm not shooting for matching, I'm just wondering if we should go with a more muted color scheme all around, or have her sticking out so much.

  • We don't do matching photos, but I do make sure that everyone is wearing colors that blend well - the pics just turn out better that way. However, why don't you take both shirts and do a couple of pics with each?

  • don't worry about matching..

  • I wouldn't put her in anything with words. I would use a solid color sweater or something with a mild pattern for her.

  • I think everyone should wear what they look best in. Family photos are who is in not what they wear. I am sure you photos will be perfect.
